XBox Live Rate Hike: Same lousy service for more money
I have a Xbox Live Account.
I can’t download anything with it, unless I go to their website.
I can’t stream movies because they don’t support my Internet Service Provider.
I can’t access their Marketplace unless I go to their website.
And I can’t play on line against my friends.
In laymans terms? It’s like owning a car and being told that because the tire doesn’t fit I need to replace my car.
So what do I think about this Rate Hike?
Let me sum it up.
Utter Bullshit.
I already am paying for a service I can barely use. I don’t have another option for a Internet Service Provider.
Whats the definition of barely? Well if I go to their website, and set up items for download, then I’m ok. It’s the only reason I have continued paying for my Live access.
But this? Is stupid. I have written their support numerous times. I have begged for help. Their solution was to change my ISP.
Not a option. Unless Bill wants to set up a high speed landline access to my area, I’m stuck with what I have.
Whats more is I have None of these issues with my PS3.
So the nifty new streaming video they offer? Can’t use it
Netflix access? No.
New Marketplace access? I’ll never see it.
Xbox parties? Cant do it.
Last.fm? Nope.
So Microsoft has once again bent we consumers over the barrel. A system that constantly requires updating, but the only way you can update it is to pay for access on Internet Service Providers that only they approve of.
I’m pretty sure this has to be a Trust violation somehow.
In the meantime I will more than likely be canning my Xbox 360 account. I am not going to pay more, for less.
Here’s the E-mail just for fun
RE: Error code 80004005 when you try to use Xbox LIVE Marketplace
Thank you for contacting Microsoft online support for XBOX! I am Joyce and I will be helping you today with your issue.
As I understand, you are trying to visit the Marketplace however, you are receiving a Status Code:80004005. I know how disappointing it is when you encounter this kind of issue.
When you try to use the Xbox LIVE Marketplace after you sign in to Xbox LIVE, you receive the following error code: 80004005
This problem is a known issue in which certain connection types and Internet service providers (ISPs) cannot provide access to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace through the Xbox 360 console. Microsoft is aware of this issue, and we are working with the affected ISPs to resolve the problem.
THINGS TO TRY
Use a different Internet connection
Because this issue is related to the Internet service provider that you are using, use a different Internet connection to connect to Xbox LIVE, if this is possible.Use the Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web
The same Marketplace content that is available through the Xbox 360 console is also available through the Web. Visit the following Web site to access the Marketplace: http://marketplace.xbox.comFrom this Web site, you can purchase items and schedule downloads to your Xbox 360 console. This issue should not affect items that are purchased by using http://marketplace.xbox.com .
Thank you for understanding.
