Quote of the Day: TGIF & Irish Edition

It has been what seems like one of the longest weeks I have had in eons. I am beyond looking forward to this weekend.

The idea of coming home tonight with a splash of Bushmills on ice and a Guinness to back it up is simply put, a wonderful thought.

The end is in sight. Just gotta keep plodding. So how about a little motivation to get us through the day aye?

And both to put a smile on your face, and a little secret to keep in the back of your mind when you meet folks who trying to ruin this last day of the week for you…

Critics are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it’s done, they’ve seen it done every day, but they’re unable to do it themselves.
Brendan Behan

Now thats fine stuff indeed!
Have a good Friday!

Quote of the Day, March 25, 2011: TGIF Edition

Ok Folks it’s Friday!

I’ve been an absolute bum on giving you good material this week, so I am going to try to make up for it with one helluva TGIF Quote edition

Lets start with who I consider the absolute foremost Dramatist of Ireland fair shores. If you have never read his work: you should!

Critics are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it’s done, they’ve seen it done every day, but they’re unable to do it themselves.

Brendan Behan

It’s not that the Irish are cynical. It’s rather that they have a wonderful lack of respect for everything and everybody.

Brendan Behan

For music, lets go with Na Casaidigh (The Cassidy’s) with a old song called The Rising of the Moon

And of course eye candy for all!

TGIF: February 24, 2012 Mardi Gras Edition

Yes folks its finally Friday.

Time to stretch the legs and break free for the weekend.

I got a marathon weekend myself so don’t look for me to be around much

But lets get it started right anyway aye?

Now I know that was Tuesday, but lets face it. It runs damn near all week in Louisiana.  So howzabout a New Orelans Street Band for our music today?

For our quote howzabout one of the kings of Jazz?

Critics have their purposes, and they’re supposed to do what they do, but sometimes they get a little carried away with what they think someone should have done, rather than concerning themselves with what they did.

Duke Ellington
And with that folks, lets get out of here and get this day over so we can fire up the weekend!

Quote of the Day, April 15, 2011: TGIF/Last Day Edition

It’s TGIF ladies and gentlemen,

It’s also my last day at my current job.
Between the new job, surviving the deadly storms of last night, and just maybe a little something new to blog about, inspired by several storm-chasers and other NOAA Spotters I have networked with via Twitter, this is a good thing. A New dawn so to speak.

Lets celebrate shall we?

Change, when it comes, cracks everything open.

Dorothy Allison

Quote of the Day, April 14, 2011

Success is meaningless if you can’t sleep at night because of harsh things said, petty secrets sharpened against hard and stony regret, just waiting to be plunged into the soft underbelly of a ‘friendship.’

Margaret Cho

Quote of the Day, April 13, 2011

It is best to do things systematically, since we are only human, and disorder is our worst enemy.

Hesiod

Quote of the Day, April 12, 2011

He hoped and prayed that there wasn’t an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn’t an afterlife.

Douglas Adams

Quote of the Day, April 8, 2011: TGIF Edition

Yes friends it is that time of day once again

1 more week until I start my new digs. Will the TGIF Edition fade away? Possibly not. So until then lets get the party started early!

Humans are the only animals that have children on purpose with the exception of guppies, who like to eat theirs.

P. J. O’Rourke

And what the hell
Lets do something really goofy and toe tapping for the day, what say you?

Quote of the Day, April 7, 2011

Good judgment comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment.

Rita Mae Brown

Quote of the Day, April 6, 2011

For the Tartans out there today

A sympathetic Scot summed it all up very neatly in the remark, “You should make a point of trying every experience once, excepting incest and folk dancing.”

Quote of the Day, April 5, 2011

Seeing ourselves as others see us would probably confirm our worst suspicions about them.

Franklin P. Adams

Quote of the Day, April 4, 2011

To do anything in this world worth doing, we must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in, and scramble through as well as we can.

Sydney Smith

Quote of the Day, April 1, 2011: TGIF Edition

While everyone else is choosing shenanigans we’re going to stay on topic here. It’s Friday by God and I need some good motivation.

New Job, new stuff at home. March was a red letter month for me, so I want to sound off with something good for the day

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

And since I’m getting back on the crazy train how about something catchy that sort of sums up how I feel about things

Ya’ll be good!

Quote of the Day, March 30, 2011

People who count their chickens before they are hatched, act very wisely, because chickens run about so absurdly that it is impossible to count them accurately.

Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde (Oscar Wilde)
