The heat is unbearable. Dry heat my ass.
Over 100 today and more to come this week.
But it’s July. Next month is August. It’s almost time. My heart beats faster just thinking about it.
As Volunteers, we have struggled this past year. Our last seasons have been anything but story book. Dooley however, has indeed made a difference, and I think anyone who bleeds orange and white can agree with that.
It’s been a tough time being a Vol lately.
Basketball program on the rebound. Our Athletic Director gone. It’s not been easy and it seems like the hits just kept coming.
But here’s a thought

As many of you know I am a die hard Tennessee fan.
My partner in crime, v00d3w, is a Georgia fan, bless his heart.
(Bless your heart, as you may know is southern for anything from “Kiss my ass” to “That poor demented delusional mentally challenged individual.“)
On October 9th our teams face off. It may not be pretty. It may be ugly. It will be especially pretty and ugly here at Registered Evil.
We have made, as we say back home, a gentlemanly wager.
- Should Tennessee be victorious:
V00d3w will dress up in Volunteer finest, including face painting and sing Rocky Top.
- Should Georgia be victorious:
I will dress up in Georgia finest, including face paint, and sing Glory Glory.
The video will posted here and on my youtube channel.
We shall shake hands. We shall allow the winner their moment of triumph and we will dance around like lunatics mocking the loser while cheering never speak of it again.
Game on Ladies and gentlemen.
The battle lines are drawn.
Whose side will you be on come October 9?
I make a lot of video’s in the football season.
Its fun, I’m not very good at it and I enjoy it.
That said I post’em so ya’ll can enjoy them too
All that said? It’s just a mere 36 hours……36 measly and slow crawling hours until it’s
FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!!!!!
For a few short months this typically political, military and personal focused blog becomes a plethora of color, drum lines and play reminiscence. For a limited time there is a chill in the air, and you can see your breath each morning and feel the tension as you head for the bandstands. Why do we do this?
Because we cant be serious all the time. Because life isn’t just politics, and war, and legislation and taxes. Because its good for the soul to step back, breathe and enjoy something. Because we are fans, one of Georgia, and one of Tennessee true red black and orange sons of the south. We are SEC where football is not just a game but a way of life.
Welcome to the 2010 NCAA Football season fellow readers. I truly believe it’s going to be one helluva ride!
36 hours ladies and gentlemen. ….35.59…………45.58………
And it is just as much a tribute to my fellow Tennessee fans as to the players themselves.
Language warning does apply, so be careful when viewing at work or around small ears
That said its only one small place, and adds emphasis.
Let me know what you think
…Of the University of Tennessee’s Pride of the Southland Band.
I’ve admitted before I was a marching band nerd.
Maybe its just me, but nothing spells college football to me quite like a Marching Band.
keep your hot dogs. Keep your tail gate. When I hear the drum cadence start, and the brass blare for me it is football time in Tennessee.
It’s not fancy.
It’s the first of many.
But like our Team it will do the job.

SITREP is an acronym for Situation Report. Old military, I’m not even sure if it is in use anymore, although it used to be.
That said we are getting closer to Football season, and v00d3w and I are both chomping at the bit.
As the time counts down I thought it would be worthwhile to do a quick rundown of some events that have taken place with my beloved Vols.
We have recruited the Number One punter in the country, Matt Darr.
We have signed Justin Worley as Quarterback, ranked at number 22.
We also picked up Defensive Tackle Allan Carson to round out our defense.
And Derek Dooley rubs a little salt in the wound by taking advantage of the NCAA rule that says Juniors and Seniors of a school under sanctions can transfer and play immediately. So what does Dooley do? He sends notification to USC that Tennessee wants all of their Juniors and Seniors.
Yes friends, for now at least, it is Great to be a Tennessee Vol!
If your trapped at work, you can catch the game with a group of us at Rocky Top Talk.
Also there are links to the Games Internet Broadcast, Audio and Internet Live Stats (A quiet, low key way to keep track of the game without disturbing your co-workers. ……….who the hell cares what they think ITS THE VOLS!!!!! )
Hopefully I’ll see you there!
Chuck Smith, former Tennessee Volunteer and more recently New York Jets Pass Rush Specialist has came back to Tennessee as the new Defensive Line Coach.
Smith is a giant among men in the D-Line business, having ran his own business helping Defensive Lineman get on top of their game, before finally being dragged kicking and screaming in to the NFL.
Among his star pupils are three former Vols — Albert Haynesworth, who this past season signed a $100 million contract with the Washington Redskins; Robert Ayers, a 2009 NFL first-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos; and Shaun Ellis, who made the Pro Bowl with the Jets this season.
Smith also has worked with Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Richard Seymour and New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora.
In the 2009 NFL draft, seven linemen selected in the first five rounds trained under Smith, including Ayers.
