As I alluded to earlier I’ll be away most of this morning.

Going to be a very busy day from the onset. I’ll announce the results as soon as I have them. As the esteemed Ralph Waldo Emerson once said “It was a high counsel that I once heard given to a young person, ‘Always do what you are afraid to do.’”. Thusly today I go forth to do what I have been afraid to do thus far.

Meanwhile don’t forget to join me tonight via the RockyTopTalk Podcast as we talk Missouri State University and University of Tennessee Basketball, coaches and other points of interest.

Ya’ll be good, and try not to spill anything on the carpet will ya?

Well actually it’s some infamous blogger who just happens to blog about sports occasionally and the guys of RockyTopTalk!

Yes, friends it seems my part time gig at RockyTopTalk just got pushed to center stage thanks to my even more recent affiliation with Missouri State University.

Or more precisely since University of Tennessee hired away MSU’s Basketball coach Cuonzo Martin, I’ve been asked to toss some information regarding our adventures in Basketball etc out here in Bear-land.

Many thanks to Joel for the opportunity, and as this will be my first live PodCast with a studio crew I’ll try not to embarrass myself, our few but loyal reader base here at RegisteredEvil or the Bears

You will be able to listen in via the PodCast on Wednesday at 21:00 EST, 20:00 CST Right Here

Anyone taking business in school should have heard of the GMAT. If you haven’t then your counselors and advisers are not doing you any favors.

I’m wrapping up my Bachelors of Science in Management. Looks like I’ll be done by roughly July or August of this year depending on how the classes fall.

I have some serious planning, studying and decisions to make between now and then.

I’ve already had to make some modifications on my goals. For example where to go:
University of Tennessee is where I want to go. Cost for their Executive MBA Program? $64,000
That’s as much as my Associates and Bachelors combined, with another 10k tossed in for measure.

University of Arkansas, a 45 minute jaunt down the road, is only some better. Their MBA program comes in at just under $30,000.

Option three is Missouri State University. A little over an hour away, it’s only barely in commuting distance provided I only take one class a semester. However it is one of the top ranked Business Schools in the country. Cost for a Missouri Resident? Less than 10 grand

Last option is stay with university of Phoenix, something I’m really having a hard time justifying. Don’t get me wrong, the school is OK. You will have to work for your degree. but public perception of their program makes them a very hard sell. I want a different school to show some diversity as well as prove my education is valid. The cost is between that of MSU and Arkansas.

Either way all three of these require the same thing: The GMAT

If I finish in the July/August time frame (which there is no reason I should. My remaining classes are all electives) I can take the rest of the year in theory to study for the GMAT. The test costs $250.

With UofP I can probably get a waiver to get around the test, however then I would be basically countering my justification for going somewhere else. The whole point is not only to get a taste of another system, but to prove my education worthwhile. If a system requires the GMAT it makes more sense in my eyes to take the test.

It’s not easy. The GMAT consists of three main parts—the Analytical Writing Assessment, the Quantitative section, and the Verbal section. 2 Essays in a hour. 37 Multiple questions on problem solving and data sufficiency in 75 minutes. No calculators are allowed, all figures must be done by hand. 41 Multiple choice verbal based questions to be done in 75 minutes. All in all your looking at almost 4 hours of a grueling test battery. It is not a test of “what you know” (or, worse, of “what you can memorize in the 48 hours before you take it”), but rather a test of “how you think.” It’s written — and has evolved and improve over time — to test problem-solving, efficiency, logical decision making, and other qualities that business schools and businesses value in managers. It’s also self adaptive to your responses, which makes it more challenging over all.

The test scores are good for 5 years, which means once I take it I can in theory wait as long as I want before I sign up for school.

The highest you can score on a GMAT is 800. The average score, however is somewhere around 540 as I understand it.

The pressure is huge to pass this thing. In 2008 a cheating scandal broke out where over 8o test centers where shut down and a host of test takers were banned from ever taking the test again.

The test centers and schools have become so concerned over cheating that they have resorted to using hand palm scanning technology at the test centers to validate who is taking the test, so you can pull a switcheroo and have your MIT cousin take it for you.

The only problem may be, after all of this struggle and accomplishment, will it be for naught in the end?

Two games.

Over 50 points a game.

Absolutely crazy given the utter tromping we have taken from such opponents as Oregon, and Georgia just to name a few.

But there is something different on the horizon.

Drew was one of the better things I saw happen to buffalo, and true to form they let him go like they have done with every single piece of talent they have had in the last decade.

I will admit that I am and have been a big Matt Simms defender. My view point is the same one I made with Drew Bledsoe when he played for the Buffalo Bills: A Quarterback is only as effective as his O-line. He can’t make passes from his back, and he can’t stay on his feat if the O-line lets defenders through like milk through a piece of bread.

Simms to me is very much a Bledsoe style quarterback. A pocket passer with the ability to get the ball down the field. Unfortunately Simms further solidified this interpretation of him as a Bledsoe style QB in my eyes with the punishment he was dealt this year: over 18 sacks this season.

Matt Simms getting crushed by LSU linemen

Furthermore they left Simms out there like some sort of human punching bag for the first several games. Anyone who detracts from Simms better to do so with the caveat that he took supreme punishment for his efforts, without a doubt.

Tyler Bray, formerly known as "The Twig" by this author (now christened "Gumby or Gumbray") gets advice from Dooley.

All of that said, even I can not deny what Tyler Bray has done these last two games. He has injected some sort of energy back in to the team that was badly needed in a record breaking (albeit not the records we wanted broken) season.

Will we go three in a row with 50 point advantages?

We’ll find out on Saturday.

Until then consider me, one of the doubters who repeatedly said Bray would be snapped like a tree twig in a hurricane on the first defensive pressure…convinced otherwise.

Could any of us have predicted this?

Does it take 6 games for a team to find it’s feet?

With over 20 freshmen starters maybe. Either way the future looks bright and hopeful.

Once again it is Great To Be a Tennessee Vol!

“Say, don’t you still have them big red trucks?”

Why do folks in Alabama go to the movie theater in groups of 18 or more?
The bartender says, “Before you tell it, you should know that I am 6-2 and weigh 225 and I’m from Alabama. See that guy at the end of the bar? He’s 6-4 and weighs 250 and he’s from Alabama, too. And see the guy at the other end of the bar? He’s 6-6 and weighs 280 and he’s from Alabama, too! Now, do you still want to tell your Alabama joke?”
The guy says, “Nah.”
To which the bartender smiles and says,”What’s the matter? Are ya chicken?”
The guy says, “Nope. I just don”t want to have to explain it three times.”

Where was OJ headed in the white Bronco?
To Tuscaloosa…he knew the police would never look for a Heisman Trophy winner there!

A man walks into a store says to the clerk, "I”d like a pair of red shoes, a white shirt, a pair of red pants, and a pair of white shoes.”
The clerk looks at him and shakes his head saying, “You must be an Alabama fan!”
The man proclaims with pride, “How could you tell, was it the color scheme?”
The clerk looks at him and says “No, this is a hardware store.”

What is the most common line used by an Alabama alumni?

What’s the difference between a University of Alabama sorority sister and a scarecrow?
One lives in a field and is stuffed with hay. The other frightens birds and small animals.

An Tennessee fan was driving down a country road when he came upon two Alabama football players hitchhiking. He told the Alabama players to jump in the back of his pick-up truck. He then drove down the dirt road rather fast and lost control of the truck as they were going around a curve. The truck landed in a lake. The Tennessee fan scrambled to the surface and swam to the bank. When he looked back at the lake, the two Alabama football players were still sitting in the bed of the truck looking frantic. As the truck began sinking theUT fan yelled for the Alabama players to get out truck, to which they replied, “We’re tryin’ to get out, but we can’t get the damn tailgate open!”

It was recently announced that a franchise was building a new Taco Bell
in near the University campus. The University”s response was “Why do we need another

“This is your house, coach”God says happily.”Most people don’t get their own houses up here.” Bear looks at the house, then turns around and looks at the one sitting on top of the hill.

It’s a huge, beautiful two-story mansion with white marble columns and little patios under all the windows. University of Tennessee flags line both sides of the sidewalk and a huge Tennessee banner hangs between the marble columns.

“Thanks for the house, God,”Bear says. “But let me ask you a question. I get this little two-bedroom house with a faded banner and Neyland gets a mansion with Tennessee banners and UT flags flying all over the place. Why is that?”

God looks at him seriously for a moment, then says, “Bear, that’s not Neyland’s house. That’s mine.”

Two Alabama fans have been walking in the woods for eight hours when they stop and one turns to the other and says, “I’m cutting the next Christmas tree we find, lights or no lights.”

A guy went to Tuscaloosa and picked up one of those new Mercedes. He was testing it out in the parking lot, turned on the radio and nothing happened. Furious, he demanded to see the sales manager, and told him “When I buy a $50,000 car I expect the dang radio to work.” The sales manager explained to him that the radio had been programmed to his voice and all he had to do was tell the radio what he wanted to hear. He got back into the car and said “Country music,” and old Willie Nelson started singing. “Rock and roll,” he exclaimed, and immediately Elvis started crooning. “Easy listening,” he remarked, and all at once it sounded like he was in an elevator. He was relaxed, driving up I-59 to Birmingham, and listening to smooth sounds. Then a pickup truck with two good ole boys almost ran him off the road. “Stupid rednecks!” he screamed. The radio immediately blurted out, “TOUCHdooooooooown AllaBAAAAAAAmaaa!!!!”

What is the difference between a litter of puppies and Alabama fans?
The puppies stop whining after 6 weeks.

Two boys are playing football in a vacant lot when one of the boys is attacked by a rabid Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the first little boy rips a board off a nearby fence, wedges it down the dog’s collar, and twists, breaking the dog’s neck and killing him instantly. A reporter, who happens to be strolling nearby, sees the incident and rushes over to interview the boy. “That was the most incredible act of bravery I’ve ever seen!” the reporter exclaims. He whips out his notebook and furiously scribbles the headline: “Young Auburn Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal!” The little hero sees this and says, “But sir, I’m not a Auburn Fan, I’m an Alabama Fan!” The reporter looks warily at the boy for a moment, then flips the page and begins a new headline: “Little Redneck Kills Beloved Family Pet”

An Alabama grad and an Auburn grad were earning some summer money by mowing lawns with a self propelled mower. It got very hot around three PM so the two sat under a tree and drank some lemonade. Somehow the mower — which they had left idling — dropped into gear and began rolling rapidly toward a filled swimming pool. The two jumped to their feet and dashed after the errant machine only to just miss it as it plunged into the swimming pool and sank, the engine bubbling down to silence. Without a moment’s hesitation the Auburn grad leaped into the pool, swam rapidly to the bottom and began pulling the starter rope in an attempt to restart the engine. The Alabama grad leaned over the water and shouted, “Choke it, you dang fool! Choke it!”

The doctor looks at the man and asks him why he has a frog sitting on his head. It was the frog who replied “Actually doc, I was the one who wanted to see you. Can you remove this wart off my butt?”

What do a maggot and an Alabama fan have in common? They can both live off of a dead bear for 20 years.

Billy Bob and his family moved from Alabama to Maine to so his Paw could find better work picking potatoes. The next day Billy Bob started his first day of kindergarten. When he got home he rushed to tell his Paw, “Paw, Paw, Teacher ast us to ree-cite the alpherbet today en Ah wuz the onliest one that could!”

His Paw replied “That’s cuz you’s from Bama, son!”

The next day he came home and told his Paw “Paw, Paw, Teacher ast us to count as high as we could en Ah counted the highest!”

His Paw replied, “That’s cuz you’s from Bama, son!”

Here it is folks. The moment we have all be waiting for. Who will sing what? Will I end up singing Glory Glory? Or will v00d3w have to cough up a version of Rocky Top? In just a few hours, the answer will be known.

When I did my first video yesterday I wasn’t really satisfied with it.

While I am far from being the Ridley Scott of Internet video’s, I do take some pride in my work, and I want it to be at least semi enjoyable to watch. It is hard to come up with video’s however when most of your clips are having to be used over and over. Contrary to popular belief there is not a wealth of footage thats usable. Once you convert it loses some of the image, when when it gets converted again it loses so more, and it doesn’t take long to become a blur instead of a nice crisp video.

That said, I felt I had to do a better job on the video. The first one, just was not up to par with what I wanted.

So here is the new video, and I hope a good improvement upon the last.

Side note if anyone has some video footage from Tennessee games they would like to share, please drop me a line at staff -at- registeredevil.com
